Chestnuts on the Parade Square
2024Until 2021, the Parade Square in Den Bosch was lined with beautiful old chestnuts that smelled so delicious during flowering and through which the sun's rays splashed happily. Illness and old age necessitated felling, but the memory is unforgettable.

Orthen bridge
2023The Orthenbrug is one of the bridges over de Zuid-Willemsvaart. It was destroyed by the German occupyers during the Battle for Den Bosch in october 1944 in an attempt to slow down the offensive by the British 12th Army Corps. The city was liberated by the 53rd Royal Welsh Division. In 2015 the new railwaybridge was named after the Royal Welsh Bridge.

She said yes
2023It's original name, 'Paradepaartje', is a wordplay in Dutch that can't be translated. A fellow water colorist had this wonderful alternative: 'She said yes'. The somewhat uncomfortable pose of the man suggests something like that, the kiss seems to confirm it. As do the first warm sunrays of early spring. The painting took fourth place in the Realism/Impressionism - Landscape category at the American Art Awards 2026.

A Facebook Friend reacted: "It has a wistful, dreamlike quality that evokes that adventurous feeling, for me, the first time you turn a quaint new street while out on a directionless stroll in a new city."

2022While the village of Eemnes (The Netherlands) itself lay in a lovely morning sun, the Eempolder was still shrouded in mist. The golden September sun quickly dissolved it.
The Blacksmith
2022The forge in the Arnhem Open Air Museum is one of my favorite places there for many reasons. Wonderful to see how the blacksmith, Hans Sent (77), masters his craft, the sounds, the smell. What a wonderful game of indoor sunlight and the reflection of the blacksmith's fire. Hans, a volunteer for 23 years, still knows the forge as a boy, when it was still in full operation.
Young dunes on the island of Neeltje Jans
2021Through the years, the famous Dutch delta works are increasingly being incorporated into nature. On the North Sea side of the former work island Neeltje Jans, young dunes have formed. It was the last warm day of 2021, the anther grass had already largely lost its green shine. The surprisingly cold deep blue shadow reveals that it is already October. Remarkable is the color contrast between the light clear sky and the dark sea, where on the border the dunes of Westenschouwen light up so brightly in the sun.
Eempolder
2021The Eempolder, seen from the beginning of the Meentweg in Eemnes, after a photo from 2010. It only takes a moment for a pinkish glow of the still rising sun to reflect on the cold snow.
Ready for harvest
2021The poplars rustle softly while the grass underneath shows all shades of green. Shining under the sunlight, the grain is waiting for the harvest. The poppies do their merry thing.
