Chasing the Ball
2025'Chasing the Ball' was created for the competition that Winsor & Newton launched in 2025. For this purpose, only (at least one) the eight colors that the paint manufacturer had released earlier that year could be used. 'Chasing the Ball' won the first prize of the participants from the Netherlands and shows a moment of the Zeeland Polo Cup, held in Domburg in 2020.
Our Evert
2025The dressage stallion Onze (Our) Evert (2019) is the last and (according to the relatives) the best horse that Evert Treep has bred. In the same way, each painting has its own story. It is special that I was commissioned to make this work.

The first bend
2024The riders in the Gerrit Knuiman Memorial Run 2023 enter the first corner at the Duindigt racecourse.
Gapinge 2022, competition tilt at the ring
2024In 2022, the Zeeland village of Gapinge was dedicated to tilt at the ring for a whole day. Here, a dozen participating horses wait their turn in peace.
Nikita R
2024The three-year-old mare Nikita R won the Derby N at Duindigt in September 2023 with Hugo Langeweg sr on the sulky.
Paris 2024, Dinja van Liere with Hermès
2024They came just short of bronze. That was, according to Dinja van Liere, "because the others were even better". Watercolor after a photo of www.digishots.nl The painting took sixth place in the Realism - Animals category of the American Art Awards in 2025.
Winners!
2024A radiant Chelsea Watlow wins the SRBD prize 2023 with Juanita at the Duindigt racecourse.

Livoye on Vichy
2023On july 21st 2022, thouroughbred Livoye had a fabulous victory at the Vichy Hippodrome with its rider Marc Nobili. After a photograph of Christoph Morlat
Final sprint
2022It remained very exciting until the last second which of these two experienced drivers would finish first.
Dandewijn and Kandewijn
2022The two Harness horses from Gelderland radiate strength and pride. They are brothers, Dandewijn (l) and Kandewijn.
Anouk van het Kruissewegje
2022This beautiful mare is Anouk van het Kruissewegje, named after breeding Farm Het Kruissewegje. I have never been greeted and accepted as enthusiastically as by this sweetheart.
Old trotter Zeres Boszorg
2021When the 39 year old trotter Zeres Boszorg looks at you that way, you just have to portray him.
Madame
2021I came across this beautiful horse one summer day. Curious and brimming with confidence. I think her name, Madame, is appropriate.
Four-in-hand
2021I think four-in-hand riding is one of the most beautiful branches of equestrian sport because of the harmony between the horses and the driver and the pleasure that the horses themselves seem to have in it. From left to right the horses Jumper, Levante, Focus and Benz. The driver and proud owner is Tonny van den Hoeven.
Peace
2021For a long time I watched this troop of workhorses cool off in the shade on a very hot summer day. In the darkness of that you can just see how they maintain the mutual social bond by scratching each other's backs. The height of peacefulness, right?
Vulcanus
2021Vulcanus, the Latin name for volcano, was the right name for this wonderful and promising racehorse. Because of its height and colour it was nicknamed Red Giant. Sadly it suffered a fatal injury.
Dozing in the summer sun
2021I often saw these two mares pulling up together. Hard to imagine they were once as colorful as their foals.
A breathing spell
2021It was a very hot day in steenokkerzeel (Belgium) when the workhorse association Den Brabander held a team day there in 2020. The soil was rock hard due to the prolonged drought so the horses were given a break after each 200 metres, while the sun reflected brightly on the stiff shiny straw.
Thirty Nine and Fine
2021Thirty Nine and Fine seemed to me an appropriate title for this painting by the 39-year-old old and legendary trotter Zeres Boszorg (1982-2022). I was very impressed when I met this centenary, converted to human years. In May 2022, Zeres died, aged forty.
Christa with Aston Martin
2021Dressage Rider Christa Larmoyeur and her horse Aston Martin, shortly before he lost an eye in an accident. Painted from a photograph made by Horse Photographer Roland Hitze.
Trotters
2020
It's about the thrill of the high speed game. The incredible suppleness can still be observed, but not the muscle movement or the splendor of the gliding moment. But look at this painting and you hear them.
This painting took first place in the still life/flowers/animals category of the Watercolor Golden Brush 2025 competition exhibition in 2025
In the same year, it took fourth place in the 'Animal Realists' category of the World Art Awards 2025.
On to the 66th Golden Whip!
2020During a thrilling race, driver Danny Brouwer and Echo Oldeson takes the lead to win the 66th Golden Whip at Duindigt.
Suppleness
2020That suppleness with which such a large animal with a rider on its back takes the obstacle remains fascinating. Patrick Verbakel finished second with Java in this jumping race in Class Z.
Merry mare
2020All of a sudden this mare started galloping as if she had something to celebrate.
Let’s go!
2020It seemed as if both mares decided it was about time for them and their foals to gallop.
Too quick
2020Zeeland Polo Cup 2019. The player of the QM-HV team, Miki Lagos (r), is too quick for Juan Medina of JD Polo.
Frolicking mares
2020I can observe the movements of horses at a meadow for hours. For a long time nothing seems to happen and then suddenly a group of mares starts to gallop, chasing each other.
Grandpa with Edelweiss
2021Grandpa Jan instilled his love for horses on his children and grandchildren. One of these commissioned this painting to cherish the many sweet memories of working with horses.
Watchful eyes
2019Foals sleep under the watchful eye of their mothers. The drooping lower lip, the horizontally waving tails show: they too enjoy the summer sun.
Mother with foal
2019Safe with mom. As foals grow larger they dare to go a bit further away. They come back regularly. Not only for drinking or resting, but also for 'cuddling'.
Bring it on
2019Full of confidence, this horse posed before travelling to a jumping competition.
Gallop
2019Hardly I appeared with my camera at the fence or this horse decided to show how beautiful he could gallop.
Chasing
2019Vreeland 2019. The winning BCAZ team is chasing after Pablo van den Brink (HV Polo).
Beautiful hit
2019Vreeland, Polo Picnic 2019. Deftly, the man of the BCAZ team (r) plays the ball away before Pablo van den Brink (HV Polo) can get it.
On to the score!
2019During Polo Picnic 2019, Juan Medina (HV Polo) took his chance to score. His team would finish second
Turning horse
2017When this horse noticed that his groom was walking behind him into the meadow, he went to greet her. It's amazing how that beautiful body makes a turn.
On its own pace
2017That horse will come, but stately, at its own quiet pace, head gently rocking.
Grazing
2017Watching a pair of relaxed grazing horses brings me peace.
